Freya Crawley (Violin)
Freya Crawley has been playing the violin since she was 4 years old and has her grade 8 violin from The Royal Conservatory of Music. She started playing with La Jeunesse Youth Orchestra in 2002 and she joined Ottawa’s Parkdale Orchestra in 2011. May 2014 is her second opportunity to play a solo with an orchestra, the first time being in 2009 playing Dmitri Shostakovich’s Piano Concerto No. 2. She graduated from the University of Ottawa in 2013 with an Honours Bachelor in Health Sciences and will be graduating from the Baccalaureate of Science in Nursing program at the University of Ottawa in 2015. She currently works at The Ottawa Hospital Cancer Centre as a research assistant with a focus on Cardiac Oncology. In her spare time she loves to run and will be running her first half marathon in the Canada Army Run this October. She also plays recreational soccer and volunteers at Live Work Play, an organization that aims to help the community welcome people with intellectual disabilities to live, work and play as valued citizens. She is very thankful for this opportunity to play Vivaldi’s Concerto for Three Violins in F Major alongside two very talented violinists.
