Jennifer Takuski (Violin)
Jennifer Takuski started playing violin at the age of five and plans never to stop. She began competing in Kiwanis Music Festivals in 1998 and in 2001 and 2006 she was awarded the Lloyd Carr-Harris Foundation Award and the James Lillico Award for her performances. Jennifer obtained her grade 8 practical violin from the Royal Conservatory of Music in 2006. From 2004-2008 Jennifer played with the Kawartha Youth Orchestra in Peterborough Ontario. In 2006 she was the recipient of the Peterborough Mayor’s Youth award for her achievements in Arts and Culture. In 2007 Jennifer had the opportunity to attend the International Chamber Music Workshop in Pulawy Poland where she studied under international professional musicians. After moving to Ottawa Jennifer played one season with the Ottawa Youth Orchestra, and in 2010 she began playing with
Ottawa’s Parkdale Orchestra. Concurrently Jennifer was a member of Sinfonia Ottawa for two seasons. In 2012 Jennifer graduated from the University of Ottawa with her B.Sc in Biomedical Science and is currently working to finish her M.Sc in Biochemistry. She would like to take this time to thank everyone who supported her along her musical journey thus far, and especially Angus Armstrong for the opportunity to play her first solo with an orchestra alongside two exceptional musicians.
