Melissa Ramessar (Violin)
Melissa Ramessar started trying to play the violin at age 6, studying at the Mount Royal College Conservatory in Calgary, Alberta. It was there that she was introduced to ensemble music, playing in various string orchestras and fiddling groups. Upon moving to Montreal, Quebec, she continued her studies at l'Académie des Hautes Études Musicales and the Conservatoire de Musique de Montréal, where she was extremely privileged to study under Helmut Lipsky. She continued to develop a love for orchestral music as a member of the Conservatoire string orchestra and as concertmaster of the West Island Youth Symphony Orchestra. For something completely different, she then joined the Canadian Army as a mechanical engineer. Her employment has taken her across the country and around the world, but she continues to seek out local community orchestras wherever she is posted. Melissa has been a member of the Parkdale Orchestra since 2012 and is thrilled to have this opportunity to play some awesome music with even more awesome people.
