Ruth Taylor (horn)
Ruth took up the horn in grade 7 because she arrived late that year and flute & clarinet were already taken!! She performed as a soloist with the Hamilton Philharmonic Youth Orchestra in her teens and was the principal horn of the Toronto Youth Symphony Orchestra. Encouraged to pursue a career in music performance Ruth spent one year at the University of Toronto before reluctantly deciding to pursue studies in the sciences. She continues to play horn in various groups and even organized a quintet out of her medical school class. Ruth, the mother of two young children and wife of a computer-programming cellist, works as a general adult psychiatrist with a special interest in addictions.
