Matthews - violin
Driven by a passion for music, Stuart Matthews, 10, has been immersed in violin study since the age of three. Until recently he studied under the tutelage of Catherine Gagné. He currently studies with Jessica Linnebach. For the last two summers he has received a full merit scholarship to the Summer String Academy at the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, where he was taught by Mimi Zweig. Recently he participated in the Ottawa Kiwanis Music Festival where he was honoured to win the Mathieu Froment-Savoie Trophy for intermediate strings. Stuart is the Assistant Concertmaster of the Ottawa Junior Youth Orchestra and is a regular performer with the Ottawa West Junior Music Club. In addition to the violin, he is an avid student of the piano. As an active member of the 3rd Ottawa Wolf Cubs, he enjoys camping and badge work and in his free time he is an enthusiastic geocacher by the name of Trouvadourkid.
