Mitchell Gibbens-Schneider (Violin)
Mitchell is 13 years old. He started violin at the age of 3, studied with Leslie Wade until the age of 10, and currently studies with Paule Préfontaine. He was the winner of the Thirteen Strings Concerto Competition in 2005 and had his first experience as soloist performing with the Thirteen Strings Chamber Orchestra thereafter. Mitchell has participated in many festivals and competitions. He won the Edythe Young Browne Trophy for Senior Strings in 2005 and 2006 at the Kiwanis Music Festival.
In 2005 and 2006, he studied at the NAC's Young Artist Programme as well as at Domaine Forget Music Academy.
Mitchell performs regularly at Young String Performers Foundation, at embassies in Ottawa as well as at the Ottawa West Junior Music Club. He is a member of Trio Con Brio with Silvie Cheng and Daniel Parker and won the Anantaraman Trophy for Chamber groups in 2006.
